The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS) of the University of Lagos has recently won a research grant of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000). The grant was won as a joint effort of Dr. Akinmayowa Akin-Otiko from the Institute together with researchers from the Faculty of Arts; Dr. Oluwatoyin Olokodana-James, Dr. Francis O. Falako, Dr. Nweke, Florence Ewomazino and Dr. Paul Onovoh of the Department of Modern Foreign Languages, Morehouse College, Atlanta, U.S.A. Funded by the Nagel Institute of Calvin University with support from the Templeton Religion Trust, the sum was granted under a research project titled, “Engaging African Realities: Integrating Social Sciences within African Theology”. Anxiety disorder is often ridiculed, viewed as an exaggeration of feelings by many people, and doesn't get as much publicity certain other mental disorders have. Although anxiety is a regular experience for humans, having an anxiety disorder isn't quite the same as being anxious about examination results. Many students have this disorder but fail to realize that this is the case. Some pretend it's the normal way to feel while some others refrain from mentioning it so as to avoid ridicule from peers. ●        School hostels to reopen May 9 Paul Agada and Toyosi Adeniji As the University of Lagos (UNILAG) prepares to reopen physically for the second semester of the 2019/20 session after an eleven months closure, some students of the institution have described their private accommodation ordeal with facility managers. The emergence of the infectious COVID-19 disease in Nigeria forced the Federal Government to impose a nationwide lockdown in March 2020, a move which resulted in the physical closure of schools across all levels. In line with the government’s COVID-19 protocol, UNILAG management chose to complete the first semester of the 2019/20 session virtually. However, the school recently announced that its second semester which is scheduled to begin by May 10 will hold physically. By Faith Enang The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Academics, Prof. Oluwole Familoni has said that the University of Lagos (UNILAG) will no longer grant access to "heavily tinted vehicles" as students prepare to resume.   Familoni, at a news conference on Friday, disclosed that the decision was informed by rising security challenges, especially in learning institutions.  "We are aware of the disturbing security situation in the country especially as it concerns institutions of higher learning.  "We are being proactive by taking some necessary steps to protect our students," the professor said.   He further said that UNILAG had requested for more security patrol vehicles round the campus.
