  Faith Ojo, Faith Enang and Famose Blessing The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Olufunke Adeboye has touted the Center of Digital Humanities as part of the faculty's scheme to familiarize her students with technological innovations around the world. She made this statement during an interview with UNILAG Sun reporters last week. “The Center for digital humanities was organized for graduate students and senior undergraduates to help them appreciate the world of digitization”, she said.  Adeboye stressed the establishment of the centre as part of the faculty's contribution to preparing her students to adapt to the new digital world.  She continued by saying that digitization does not apply only to sciences but also to humanities and all other courses. ‘Leye Abiola   The winning trio receiving their cheque The trio of Muhammadulfatiu Adepeju, Aisha Animashaun and Emmanuel Awosika have emerged the winners of the UNILAG Mass Communication Alumni Association (UMCAA) entrepreneurship grant, winning a grant of N500,000. The entrepreneurship competition is an alumni initiative aimed at developing the entrepreneurial mindset of undergraduate students of the department in a bid to address the increasing nationwide youth unemployment and general economic decline. By Soremekun Samson Seyifunmi The Federal Government of Nigeria has on Monday approved the construction of a new Faculty of Education building in the University of Lagos.   The building project will be jointly funded by the 2019-2020 Tertiary Education Trust Fund Merged Annual Intervention and the University Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). The total amount budgeted for the building project is ₦488,194,149.57k. with ₦483,426,697.62k coming from the 2019-2020 TETFUND Merged Annual Intervention and ₦4,767,451.95k coming from the University’s IGR.   The new building would comprise secretarial offices, lecture rooms and offices, boardrooms and conveniences. The project also covers supply, installation and testing of equipment and furniture to meet modern facility requirements.    The building contract has been awarded to M/S Different Project Limited and is expected to be completed and delivered within a period of one hundred and four (104) weeks.

In a release by the Dean, Students Affairs Division, Prof. Ademola Adeleke titled, IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF HOSTELS TO CHECK THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 ON CAMPUS”, it was announced that hostels will be locked indefinitely. The statement reads, “To check the spread of Covid-19 on campus, the University Senate has directed that all students vacate the halls of residence latest by 12.00 noon on Thursday 15th July 2021. No access will be granted to any student after 12.00 noon on 15 July." "The hostels will be locked indefinitely therefore students are advised to move all their personal effects at once. Lecturers for the rest of the semester will be delivered virtually with effect from 26th July 2021." Recall that the school's medical centre reported an increase in COVID-19 symptoms yesterday.
